Guess it's the same all over the Christmas celebrating world. My husband usually starts collecting the wrapping paper and my daughters go right after him, shrieking "Look, mom, dad wanted to throw this beautiful wrapping paper out!" We have had some of the papers for years now, having fun with thinking up ways to reuse them without making them look "recycled".
