electricity is a miracle...i am totally convinced of it! while we lose power quite often up here on the hill, not ususally for three days! the last time we went three whole days without power was during the loma prieta earthquake when i still lived in salinas, california.

the windstorm thursday was a wild ride, the trees outside looked like giant monsters doing a wild dance in the wind, and the sound was sooo scary! the power went out and i was ready for it of course... we lose power so easily anyway, and i still had not put away the candles from the day before when the power was out all day! and we had a box of duraflame logs, so we were ready. we were not prepared for the temps to drop so much though! it was sooo cold! we could see our breath in the house! we went out for a drive the next day after the storm, and these are the photos i took. the top two are my house in the candle light...they look pretty and cozy, but baby, it was coooold!

these photos are in the neighborhood, and it became apparent when we saw these, that we would be out of power for some time! i'm afraid my photos do not do the destruction justice...i am just not a very good photographer! there were several places where these big trees had come down and ripped wires down with them. i took more photos with my cell phone, and some of the images were kinda cool, especially one beautiful 'calm after the storm' one of the sun going down over seattle from juanita beach, but i sent them to flickr and can't get them to blog. there were several places where the trees fell on the power lines, and the power lines are all that is holding them off the ground, and there is kind of like a tunnel of these fallen trees...pretty scary to drive through! they finally closed our road after two days, 'cause there were lots of places like this where the power lines had fallen in the middle of the streets! we saw several houses with trees on top of them...luckily many of them had little damage, but there were some that did have a lot. we felt very lucky to only be without power. i hope anyone else that still is going without power gets it restored very soon. i sooo missed my computer too! my husband and my daughter laughed at me last night after the lights came on...i waited about a half hour, and then could not stand it and got my laptop!

Glad you are back among the 'powered'! Ours came on late last night, and internet just a bit ago. Friends in Woodinville are still without. It's too chilly here to go this long without one's furnace!

WOW. I see what you mean! Thanks for the e-mail, and I'm glad you're okay! My family lost ventilation for a night, but it was nothing like THIS.
