at my house, we drink a lot of tea. i took pottery classes when i was in college, and i made several tea pots while there, and then later, my daughter worked in a little tea shop in country village for a time, and so we got very into the little nice extras that go with 'having tea'. (that particular little tea shop is no longer there, but there are a couple others there.) some time soon, i will do a post on all my tea pots...i have some that are special to me.
this past week, i went about puttering with some designs for tea cosies, for i did not have any for any of my tea pots. these are two of the ideas i came up, with and made into working models.
i don't know yet if i am very happy with the larger one...i think it works o.k with this tea pot, but i have some with the handle on top, and it does not work at all for those. this smaller one, i think i like it pretty well. it has a tie on top that can be tightened, and it also keeps the lid on while pouring.
i don't think that there really can be a 'universal' cozy either. every teapot i have is very different! i know there are some that you just take off when you pour...i made one like that for my mom quite a while back now. it was like a little 'hat', and i made it of all kinds of little patches of satins and lace, crazy-quilt style. then i embroidered it too, like a crazy quilt. she really liked it. anyway, i kind of like the ones that you can leave on, but those seem a little more fussy to figure out. i know there are probably patterns for them out there already, but where's the fun in THAT!?! the funny thing was, when i was cutting into the material with the virgen de guadalupe...everytime i use that material for something, when i cut into it, it feels almost sacreligious! ahhh! can't cut off the head (arm, feet, etc.) of an icon! it's just so wrong!

Which tea shop in Country Village DO you recommend? I haven't tried any of them. I always end up at Pappa's - with his yummy grilled-chicken sandwich and amazing hot chocolate....
mohairpink, i agree with you on the virgen lighting up the room...i love her!
