rod stewart!

the concert was GREAT! here we are before it started, one of the usher guys offered to take our photo and it came out nice! while we were walking around, we kept hearing bagpipes music and i thought it was just music that was on a speaker somewhere, and we rounded the bend

and it was this!!! these are the "seattle firefighter pipers and drummers"! they looked so amazing in their outfits, and perfectly in step! and they were FIREMEN! always very cool! they were going all around key arena, and then they went into the stage area and were playing there. they played at this section and then went to another section and played there, and when they would leave that area, the crowd would cheer. so they were playing down near us, but we were up a little way in our seats already, and i wanted to get a better photo. lloyd said, just go down there and take one closer. well, it was kind of crowded, and i had this shot which i thought was pretty good, so i did not go down there. and then the crowd cheered again, but the firemen were still playing. and i looked in that direction, and there was rod stewart walking through the crowd towards the stage! if i had gone down there to get my photo, i would have been standing in the path of rod stewart! i should have gone down for the photo!

well, he finally came out and performed, and it was great! he played almost every one of our favorites, (except for 'passion', but i can live with that!) and ended with 'maggie may' as the encore. he performed about 2 1/2 hours! and i really liked his wardrobe, he changed about 5 or 6 times...i like when they do that! just me, i'm weird that way! this photo of the concert is not very good...i tried to take some others, but the lights do something weird with the camera and they didn't come out. i took a few with my cell phone too that came out cruddy, but i have another weird thing...i have the cruddy photos from other concerts on there too! i have a couple cruddy shots of the lenny kravitz concert, cruddy shots of aerosmith/lenny kravitz concert, cruddy shot of elton john, and now of rod stewart! i did not have the same phone at the times we went to see prince, or i would have cruddy shots of him too! no one else sees them, i just know they are there!

I lurve that Maggie song. I also love how your husband and you are echoing each other in the outfits. Went to a party Saturday nite where my friend and her hubby echoed each other in orange and brown. It was so cool. Made them seem more in love and couple-y when I 'd look at them. You guys look in love and couple-y too!

How cute you two are! (and how pink your blog has become! :-)

Sounds like a great concert - and how fun to be serenaded by bagpipes beforehand. You gotta love a man in a kilt!

oldround ~ i went shopping the day before to find a top that matched a skirt i wanted to wear, but had nothing that went with it...so he felt like 'matching' me since i went to the trouble!

tara ~ hee, hee! you know how i LOVE pink! i think it just felt a little dark...i wanted something more 'springtime-y'! the concert WAS great! and love those firemen...in kilts! who knew we had that here!?

Yeah - I haven't seen firemen playing bagpipes locally, but there are a number of local chapters of pipers about that I've seen perform places like Kirkland Performance Center and the Scottish Games in Enumclaw every year. :-) There's also a Master's Performance every year in Benaroya Hall the first of February which is predominantly pipers. All kilted. Hooray! The more, the merrier, I say!

tara ~ you've seen the 'utilikilt' around haven't you? i used to work for a woman (very briefly) that shared a space with the guy who makes the utilikilts! the interesting thing was, he did not even know how to sew starting out his company! now you see them all over the place...how cool is that!

it was soooo much fun! the only thing was, that for the most part, everyone stayed seated...i like when everyone is up on their feet, rockin' out when the music is going good! well, to quote joe walsh, "i can't complain, but sometimes i still do! life's been b=good to me so far!" ;]
You and your husband look so beautiful!..and how nice to have a date!
