i'm still around! i am finishing up the last few dresses i have, and one or two are trickling in as well, but i think the giant wedding season is coming to a close finally. (huge sigh!) as usual, b.b. here is my 'wing man'...he sits on the counter, right next to my right elbow every day when i am sewing.
here is the progression of the new costume...all the beaded parts that i cut from the thrifted beaded dress have been appliqued in place, and the big iridescent beads have been sewed on. the bra is completely assembled but still needs the fringe to be attached, and edges beaded. the belt still needs a lot of beadwork done. i am in the mindset that i have put a lot of hours into this now... it has to look professional to me. and i am my own biggest critic!
i found some fabric that i like very much for the skirt. it is a kind of bluey-greeny, almost iridecent color as well. together with these parts, it looks kind of from-the-ocean, mermaid-looking. i had been thinking basic circle skirt, like this:
but maybe it will have to be a mermaid skirt, which is like this:
that might make me look taller and thinner anyway! (always a good thing!)

How do you keep cat hair (black!) off of those gorgeous white dresses? I am contantly picking my studio cat's hair out of my palette and off my paintings...

tara ~ that is a piece of crinoline i chopped off a dress...he isn't allowed to sit on the dresses, 'cause it WOULD get covered in kitty hair! i do have to check the hems after i'm finished though, there is sometimes kitty fur AND thread on them. we use a lot of lint rollers around here!

Oooh! That turned out great! Love those big irridescent beads, too.

The bra section looks fabulous. Do your fans get to vote on the type of skirt? I'm thinking the slender skirt might make you look taller and more slender when you're standing still, but the circle skirt looks very flirty in motion!

There. My two cents. You're welcome (tho you didn't ask...)
