here is detail of part of the train from the dress above. it had quite alot of beading on it and layers of organza that make putting the zipper back in difficult...and the beadwork makes it difficult too! it has to be taken out, and then replaced at the areas that are worked on, in this case the area around the zipper. i will breathe a huge sigh of relief when the bride has her fitting, and it fits just right, and she takes it home!
later addition to this post: since i posted this, i downloaded more photos i had taken of this dress, so i added them. here is a 'before' shot, when i have the zipper out, and here is how much it had to be taken in, where it is pinned.
here, i was removing the beadwork to sew the zipper in closer. the little glass dish is one of my thrift shop addictions...i love these little dishes with the sections for putting beads in when i do beadwork! and i guess if i ever have a cocktail party, they will come in handy for little snacky things as well!
