this year, my daughters both made gingerbread houses from some kits you buy. they sat out and looked very cute for the holidays, (the houses... and the girls too!) but over the weeks got a bit bumped, and broke a bit away from the bases, and generally started to crumble a bit. they did not want to deal with figuring out how to safely store them away till next season, so one of them said, "just put them outside, and the birds and squirrels can eat a bit of them before they get thrown away." so, when we had family over for dinner on sunday, that was what we did...sat them out on the deck where we can still see them, but they are out of the way. (the gingerbread houses...not the family!) well, last night, i decided to peek out the sliding glass doors to see if they had gotten any nibbles, and there was a great big 'possum, noshing away at the roofline of one of the houses! i went to get my camera, and i was trying to figure out how to get a photo through the window without the flash throwing back a reflection. but, by the time i got my camera, and it got ready, the old guy was lumbering off, seeming to be annoyed by my intrusion interrupting his snack, and the porch light blinding his poor little eyes! i could have followed him a bit, and maybe got a shot...but there was no way i was going to open the door! he was a good bit bigger than either b.b or oscar! i do see how they get themselves eaten though...he was soooo slow!

Yes, they are slow, but the darn things are all TEETH!!! Wouldn't want to get in a tussle with one... ;)

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I LOLed when I read the part of your profile that said "I'm finding rock concerts an awful lot of fun these days!" ;)
