on the day i was feeling the worst from my recent cold or whatever it was, i received these beauties from my hubby while he was in miami. they have since opened up and are quite beautiful, so i wanted to share!
i went today to pick up some work from madina vadache, and from now on, i will have to be going into downtown seattle instead of where i was going before. soon, the shop i also work for, voletta couture, will also be moving into a new space in downtown bellevue, so where before they were both quite close and i could pick up and deliver quite easily, it will be a little more travel time, and also entails getting onto the freeway, which i really hate! with all the recent "weird things about me" meme that was going around, that would have been one of my weird things...i will go to great lengths to avoid freeway travel!
anyway, when i go out for that, i kind of hit some of the same places on the way back home, and one is my grocery store and it has a little second hand store next to it. when i go to the thrift shops, i look for my little cordial glasses, and my orphan china with the pink flowers. my grama had some china that was similar to this, with pink roses and gold filigree around the edges. the pattern on the cup is the closest to it (that i can remember, at least!) that i have come to it, but i get lots of things that are similar.
when i went to my second hand place today, they had this little tea set there. they had it marked at $10. and i looked at it and picked it up, and then put it back down. so i left, and went to get my groceries and thought about it. sometimes i do that, and then come back a couple days later...if it is still there, it was 'waiting' for me to take home. well, i decided to go back 'cause it was only 10 bucks! when i took it up to the counter to pay for it, the lady said, "well, it has a yellow sticker...this is 50% off today." how cool is that! only 5 bucks for this cute tea set! this was the first time i have gone back thrifting after the JFK magazine incident! some days it is a good day, and some days not so good! today was very good day!
