i got a fire truck!

i had a little excitement yesterday, and another thing in the list of "what's next?" in the new floor drama! i kept feeling like i smelled gas after they installed the floor under the stove, pulling it out and disconnect/re-connecting the gas line to it. so it bothered me, and i called the fire department (that's what you do when you smell gas in your house, you know) and i told them it was a non-emergency. i got a very quick response, they were there in about 3 minutes! not only that, but they came in the big truck with lights AND sirens! (freaked out my friend across the street though) i laughed, and told the first one out, "wow, i wasn't expecting the 'whole enchilada'! i did tell them it was a non-emergency!" well, they came in and checked everything out, and said, "well, we don't smell anything". but when they were leaving, they called the gas company to come make an inspection, and he came soon after. he found a gas leak!

(and no, they didn't let me play in the truck...the pics are from our trip to memphis, and that one is in the kid section of the fire museum!)

God bless the firemen in this country! We also had the "whole enchilada" show up at our house for a small dryer fire... what a feeling of comfort knowing they're always there in real emergencies :)
We recently lost 2 firefighters in a town nearby this week - please keep their families in your prayers. Deb

Cool story! Glad the gas leak was discovered.

I thought that was the firetruck that came to your house too...
