"the trouble with angels"
this is the netflix movie i have out right now. i watched it last night, and i really love this movie from my childhood. it makes me feel quite nostalgic. it is about two girls who get sent to a catholic school, and give the sisters quite an exciting time! it has rosalind russell as the mother superior, hayley mills as one of the 'angels', and there is an appearance by THE gypsy rose lee, as a lady who comes in to teach the girls 'social graces'! it also has as one of the nuns, a lady that was also a nun in the series 'the flying nun'.
i love this movie 'cause it always makes me laugh, and it also always makes me cry, so i went up to my room and watched it alone curled up in bed with a blankie. (my family makes fun of me when i cry at movies, and they also won't watch 'old' movies, either) i went to a catholic school for a time in my earlier elementary school years. we had nuns that taught there, and they really wore the exact same habits that the nuns in this movie wore...and they scared the heck out of me! i also had a great-aunt that was a nun. (she scared the heck out of me too!) but this movie probably speaks more to someone that grew up catholic and/or went to a catholic school in the 60's. the 'delinquent' girls are pretty tame compared to stuff they do now in schools! but it also has a look to it, that reminds me of growing up in the 60's. i have rented this one enough times that i will just have to buy it eventually!

Usually I cry at movies too!
I married a Catholic husband, and my Mom (like you) briefly went to Catholic school. My God daughters go to Catholic School. Compared to how I learned in school,there is something special that gets infused into a person.

I didn't go to Catholic school, only catechism. My husband had 12 years of Catholic schooling. I had a Great Aunt that was a nun and my Dad's cousin was a priest.
Two nights ago I was watching Father of the Bride with my 11 year old daughter. We were cuddling on my bed with our feather pillows and I was hiding in my pillow each time the tears came!!

amy ~ i found a site somewhere that told more about the movie...the building the school was in was a castle and now it is called something like 'mary's home for'...i forget now, but after the mary character maybe!
